"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain..."
A person without a plan
Is a person planning to fail!
The saying above is one that has inspired and motivated me through a barrage of discoursing words and outright opposition to my quest to publication.
When I first knew I would write I went into a zone. I wrote non-stop for days on end. Often I would forsake personal time with family and friends. My goal was to meet the deadline I set for myself.
That goal was admirable and I actually met it. What I did not understand was that after I put the last punctuation on the page, I needed to don my business hat.
Business!
Yes, as a writer I needed to have a business plan. Actually, as a writer a large portion of your business plan should be in place before you get too deep into writing if your plan is to publish your book and sell more than a few copies.
My blessing was that I was mentored by several successful industry professionals. The most valuable piece of knowledge they consistently imparted has never left me. I was taught that whichever avenue of publishing I would pursue, it was up to me to know the business. To that end I became a student of the publishing business.
My quest ignited an ember that I did not know was glowing – the ember of helps.
To that end I have developed The Writer’s Plan Workshops and Tele-seminars to assist others with the business side of the writing business.
